Ratatan is dropping a beat, and it’s ready for combat. Announced at the Future Games Show, this wild new rhythm roguelike is bringing back the spirit of Patapon with a huge twist: massive armies, roguelike runs, and a soundtrack performed by the characters themselves.
You’re in charge of the “Ratatans,” a rhythmic army of adorable little critters who fight in sync with your commands. March, guard, attack, it’s all done through perfectly timed beats. But this time, you’re not leading a squad. You’re leading one hundred warriors in real-time chaos.
The action doesn’t stop at battle. Between runs, you’ll return to Rataport (your home base) to upgrade troops, take on new quests, and tweak your squad. The more you play, the more your team grows stronger, weirder, and more musical.
The look is slick and charming, like if your PSP nostalgia got a full-color remaster. And the soundtrack? It’s all in-world. The Ratatans are the band, and every level feels like a new jam session wrapped in strategy.
It’s launching into Early Access on Steam this July 25, with a demo already live. If you ever played Patapon, or just love rhythm games that try something different, this one’s drumming up something special.
The beat is back! And it’s bringing an army with it.
