Ever wanted to rewind time in the middle of a boss fight? Code Vein II just asked that question at Summer Game Fest—and it might have an answer. The game was officially revealed during the event, confirming a 2026 release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. No word on Switch 2 support though – which to be frank is quite worrying given how little has been announced for the console during the Summer Game Fest.
The trailer dropped hints of a darker, more cinematic story that builds on the original’s vampire-heavy lore. Revenants are still at the heart of it, now fighting against something called Luna Rapacis—a threat that turns them into Horrors. That phrase, “If time were a weapon,” keeps showing up, and while Bandai hasn’t confirmed the specifc time mechanics yet, fans are already speculating about rewinds, alternate timelines, and branching paths.
Combat still looks stylish and flashy, with anime-style slashes, fast dodges, and glowing weapons. The trailer teased more customizable builds using systems like Blood Codes and new gear types called Jails. Companion characters seem to be back, too, likely letting players team up with AI during missions.

Visually, it’s a big step up. Everything from the lighting to the camera angles feels more cinematic. That’s a smart move, especially after how well Code Vein built its identity around mood and style. And based on early community reactions, people are into it. Reddit threads are already full of frame-by-frame breakdowns.
There’s still a lot we don’t know—how the story will play out, what the time element really means, or how deep the combat systems will go. But for fans of the first game, this looks like more than just a sequel. It looks like the series finally leveling up.
