Thick as Thieves: Warren Spector’s PvPvE Immersive Sim Makes Heisting a Shared Experience

Thick as Thieves just stole the show at Day of the Devs, and it didn’t even need to break a window. Set in a magical take on the 1910s, this PvPvE stealth game puts you and a few other crooks into the same ticking heist, and lets you decide whether to sneak, steal, sabotage, or strike.

You all start in the same city. The shops and rooftops are open. The loot’s waiting. And the question is simple: can you out-thief the other thieves?

The whole premise looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun, and hopefully you can play just between friends!

You’re not just avoiding NPC guards. You’re avoiding the other players too… and they want what you want! You might trail a rival through the streets, waiting for them to grab the prize, just to snatch it out of their hands. Or you could make noise, trigger a guard patrol, and pin the blame on them while you slip away.

The game rewards creativity. Sound matters. A thunderclap, a passing train, or a broken lamp can cover up your movements. One wrong step can turn a quiet heist into a messy scramble. You’ll need to stay alert, adapt fast, and think like a trickster.

Between missions, you return to a shared hub. It’s where you prep, grab tools, and eavesdrop on future marks. Then it’s back into the city for another job that might unfold in a completely different way: new weather, new guard patrols, different loot, and changing objectives.

It’s all designed around emergent play. No two matches feel the same, and every player adds to the chaos. The game wants you to write the story through action, not cutscenes. One run might end in a perfect clean steal. The next might end with three thieves brawling over the same necklace in a flooded alley.

The team behind it includes immersive sim veterans, led by Warren Spector, so expect depth beneath the surface. If you loved Thief or Deus Ex but always wanted to mess with other players too, this is your moment!

Thick as Thieves is coming in 2026 to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
