What if the weird, retro-future world of Atomic Heart wasn’t locked in one facility, but spread across the entire planet? That’s what Atomic Heart II is promising, and it’s coming in 2026 to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The sequel picks up after the events of the original, but this time the chaos isn’t isolated. The trailer shows a collapsing society, global unrest, and a world unraveling under the weight of its own twisted tech. There’s a new cast of characters, returning faces, and a lot of vague talk about a deeper truth hiding under the surface. The tagline says it best: “The truth runs deeper than you think.”

Gameplay-wise, it’s still a first-person action RPG, but this time it’s bigger in every direction. There’s an actual open world, more RPG systems, and more freedom in how you approach combat. Players can dual-wield powers and guns, weaving together melee and ranged moves in a more fluid way than before.
The whole game is being built in Unreal Engine 5, which means it’s aiming to be one of the best-looking shooters out there. Mundfish even said they want it to hit the same kind of “wow” moment Crysis did back in 2007. That’s a big claim, but based on the visuals alone, they might not be bluffing.
Atomic Heart II is expected in 2026. No confirmed date yet, but it’s already in development for Steam, Epic Games Store, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The first game was divisive but packed with style. If this sequel delivers on its promise of a deeper, wilder, more connected world, it could turn some heads.
