A Heavy Morning

Some mornings feel heavier than others. Not because anything’s gone wrong particularly, but because everything feels like… too much. A Heavy Morning is a game about that feeling, and the quiet but incredible strength it takes just to get moving.

Revealed during the Women-Led Games Showcase, it’s a short, reflective adventure about a young woman trying to make it through the first 30 minutes of her day. You’re not saving the world. You’re just brushing your teeth, finding your socks, and talking yourself into leaving the house.

This is exactly what depression looks and feels like.

It’s slow on purpose. There’s a softness to everything, from the hand-drawn art to the way you navigate your thoughts. You’ll click through puzzles that aren’t just about logic, but about how your brain tries to protect you, and sometimes it does that by making things harder. There’s even a little “Mind Space” mode where you unpack your inner voice and try to push through the static.

It feels honest. Nothing is exaggerated. Nothing’s wrapped up in big metaphors or dramatic arcs. It’s just… real. You feel seen in the little things. The hesitation. The pressure. The moment you finally open the door and step outside.

It looks unreal that the game expresses what some of us have though so many times in a way that's both thought-provoking, but also helpful to get over these blocks.

A Heavy Morning is coming soon to Steam and Xbox. It’s from a women-led team, and it shows. Thoughtful, warm, and grounded in lived experience, this one doesn’t try to fix anything. It just sits with you while you figure it out.

And honestly? That’s enough.
